A Bali based circular economy venture converting organic waste into feed and fertilizer that farmers can actually afford.

Z Bio collects organic waste from hotels, restaurants and food and beverage clients across Bali, charging a monthly gate fee, and converts it through black soldier fly bioconversion into two products farmers use every day: an affordable livestock feed and a chitin rich biofertilizer that helps crops resist fungal disease.
Both sell at up to 20 percent below the cost of imports. The first facility has been running since May 2025, processes around three tons of organic input per day, and is already profitable, which is rare for a black soldier fly venture at this stage.
Founded by Fredric Tanuwijoyo and Carin Felicia, Z Bio joined the Brainforest portfolio through our Summer Venture Program Cohort #7.
