eva is building a Forest Climate Standard for Europe's forests. The problem it solves sits at the heart of forest restoration. Converting damaged areas and monocultures into climate resilient mixed forests takes decades of work and significant investment, yet forest owners rarely have a way to finance it. At the same time, companies looking to support credible climate projects often end up with credits from far away, hard to trace and hard to trust. eva connects the two. The Forest Climate Standard was developed specifically for forests in Germany, taking regional requirements for climate friendly and sustainable forestry into account. Forest owners generate direct income on the voluntary carbon market, while companies co finance regional climate protection projects with measurable added value for climate, biodiversity and sustainable forest management. The standard covers two paths. The forest reconstruction method supports farms reforesting calamity areas, and the forest adaptation method helps convert pure stands into structurally diverse mixed forests. The quality of this work is gaining recognition. In January 2026, eva certificates received the conditional endorsement from ICROA, the internationally recognized body for quality in the voluntary carbon market, as announced on the eva website. This confirms that eva's projects meet the highest standards of transparency, additionality, independent verification and long term climate impact. Beyond the standard itself, eva founded the Forest Climate Council, a multi stakeholder dialog bringing together voices from the forest, the market, science and civil society. Because Europe's forests deserve a standard of their own.
