Brainforest's portfolio company 'Orijin' secures strategic investments
Orijin gains strategic backing to revolutionize sustainable agricultural supply chains
In a landmark move to drive sustainable practices in global agriculture, Brainforest Association has taken the lead in providing strategic funding to Orijin. This investment empowers Orijin to advance its mission of transforming supply chains, especially in coffee, cocoa, and other essential crops.
The support from Brainforest, coupled with additional financial backing from Gorilla Capital, the Nordics' most active early-stage investor, enables Orijin to intensify its ultimate mission: helping producers transition from low-output operations to efficient, sustainable systems that meet compliance standards such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
Orijin’s technology aims to equip farmer organizations and agribusinesses with essential tools for traceability, environmental protection, and access to premium markets, creating a win-win for businesses and the planet.
Recognition at Arctic15 propels Orijin forward
Earlier this year, Orijin’s journey gained significant recognition when the company was selected to participate in Arctic15, one of the most prestigious startup competitions in the Nordic region. Organized by the Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN), the event brings together some of the brightest and most ambitious startups from across the region to compete for investor attention and industry acclaim.
Out of more than 180 promising startups, Orijin stood out for its groundbreaking vision and transformative impact in sustainable agriculture. Securing the second-place prize, Orijin demonstrated the power of its mission to revolutionize supply chains and support sustainable practices. This achievement not only highlights the strength of Orijin’s innovative approach but also solidifies its position as a leader in creating scalable, impactful solutions for global agriculture.
Accelerating Innovation with Brainforest’s Venture Program
Orijin’s journey toward transforming agricultural supply chains received a powerful boost as part of Brainforest’s Venture Program, an intensive 8-week program dedicated to advancing high-potential startups in forest and biodiversity innovation. Among a select cohort of just five startups, Orijin demonstrated remarkable commitment and progress through targeted coaching, strategic networking, and skill-building sessions designed to refine their approach to sustainability.
The program culminated in a pitch competition, where Orijin’s impactful vision for sustainable agriculture won over judges and secured the top spot. This achievement led to Brainforest’s strategic investment, which, along with support from Gorilla Capital, now empowers Orijin to scale its solutions and deliver essential compliance, traceability, and management tools to agricultural producers worldwide.
