Newsletter September 2023
Dear Brainforest follower,
This autumn, our spotlight is on the 8-week Biodiversity Lab Venture Program. We've had the opportunity to engage with five unique teams focusing on biodiversity, working closely with them through their validation stages. The culmination is near with the upcoming pitch event (🙌). We are curious which of the solutions will become a Brainforest venture. 🌳
September Spin-off Bites 2023
XILVA: Quality assessments have become a top priority in the corporate climate agenda. That's why this glowing testimonial from Climate Lab for Xilva GRADE strikes a powerful chord: "We are now proud of our GRADE and see it as a quality label."
eva: In September, eva presented their ecosystem services valorization idea at two events: The Impact Festival, a B2B gathering for sustainability innovation, and the Future Forest Initiative, which focuses on forest and climate innovation.
Brainforest: On the 7th of July, we have hosted our first Rooftop Event in our Office. Find here the after movie filmed and edited by Borda Marketing.
Meet our Cohort
For the past 8 weeks, our venture-building team has worked alongside five ventures, supporting them in their venture building activities. Here's an overview of the 5 selected biodiversity revolutionary ventures.
Synature
Synature is pioneering bioacoustic technologies with its smart microphone that instantly detects species, primarily wolves, notifying biologists and rangers. They’re now delving into its potential for biodiversity analysis and reforestation project monitoring.
Bonic
Bonic is an impact investment platform focused on funding food forest projects that not only capture carbon, enhance biodiversity, and empower local communities but also deliver returns for our investors through the sale of high-quality carbon credits.
Terrabiom
Terrabiom is building a hands-on solution to regenerate soil health and biodiversity. The resulting data elevates transparent and traceable insights, providing companies the foundation to restore their soils at scale.
Jeev
Jeev is building tools that empower land stewards globally to launch equitable nature restoration projects faster and at lower cost. The Jeev Restoration Engine leverages earth observation data and machine learning to streamline project design and development processes, enabling land stewards to access finance to scale their restoration activities.
Inverto
Inverto are building a platform for the adoption of parcels of coastlines on a subscription basis, with the goal being to drive funding for climate, biodiversity and social impacts on a long term basis. Using a range of technology to enable action and crucially monitoring at large scales, the data collected is broken down on a per parcel basis for meaningful metrics on climate and particularly biodiversity benefits.
Together, we're aiming to regenerate and protect 20 million hectares of forest by 2030.
Thank you for being with us on our Brainforest journey. Let's keep working towards healthier forests and biodiversity.
